Go Braves!!

We have been planning our trip to Denver for months now. My dad gave us front row tickets to see the Braves play in Denver and we have been so excited to go. It was Phil and I and we took Dax and Sam(my nephew) with us. We were all so excited. We left Sunday night and drove to Grand Junction. It was late when we left so the boys slept most of the way. I thought we would have to pack them into the hotel since it was about 1am when we got there. Boy was I wrong. i came out to the car after checking into the hotel and they were wide awake and laughing. We got settled in and put them to bed. The next morning we were up and ready to finish our drive. We had breakfast at Village Inn and then we were Denver bound. The ride was beautiful with so much to see and look at. We had a pretty uneventful ride which was good. We got to Denver and our hotel wasn't quite ready for us to check in so we went to Applebees for lunch and then hit the mall (for Phil not for me!!) He wanted a new Braves hat before the game. After shopping we ran back and checked into the hotel and got our Braves gear on and made our way to Coors Field for the game. It was a fun night. We had seats on a private balcony behind home plate. It was so fun. The kids loved it and Phil loved it even more. We got to see the Braves win which made us all even happier. It was late by the time we got back to our room and we were all beat. We went to bed and were up early to start the next day. The next morning we went and took a tour of Coors Field. It was fun and interesting. We got to see all over and even went to sit in the dugouts. As you can imagine Dax HATED that part. He was eating it all up. We even got to see Time Hudson out on the field playing catch with his two little boys. After our tour we went to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch. We had some tired and hungry boys at that point. Nothing a little A/C and food couldn't take care of though. After lunch we drove around for a bit deciding how to kill a few hours and we settled on a little rest and relaxation at the hotel. The boys went swimming until the lightening started. We went back to the game that night and were so excited to sit in our killer seats on the front right across from first base. As soon as we got into the stadium we made our way down to the Braves dugout. We were able to get a few signatures on the boys baseballs and then it started to pour rain. They pulled out the rain tarps and covered the field and then we sat in rain delay. I was starting to get worried that it wouldn't stop. But alas the clouds broke and we had ourselves a game. Before it started we got lot's more autographs and some fun pictures. Then we went to our awesome seats to enjoy the game and that we did. In the eight inning the coach for the Braves came out and through us a ball. We did stick out like a sore thumb in the Rockies territory in all our Braves garb. It was so fun!! After the game we made the thirty mile treck back to our hotel but stopped for a quick drive through McDonalds for some dinner. We were pulling out of McDonalds and we were in an intersection waiting to turn left and we were hit by a car. We spun and once we got our bearings we realized that the driver had taken off. There was a few wittness that stopped to make sure we were ok and then one went after the car that hit us. We were all fine thank goodness. A little shaken up but fine. We called 911 and in no time that cops were there and they had the car that hit us. We made our way to a nearby parking lot where they had the other car. He was nineteen and drunker than a skunk. When they asked him for his license he gave them a dollar bill. We spent the next hour and a half there taking care of all the police reports and such. Long story short he went to jail in handcuffs as did the friend he called to come pick him up who also drove over drunk. So he to left in handcuffs. We had not front of a car since it was all ripped off but we managed to make our way back to the hotel. The next morning was a nightmare of phone calls and trying to make arrangements to get the car towed and get ourselves home. It was a long day but thanks to some wonderful family and friends it was all taken care of and we got everything taken care of and got on a flight home! I was very happy to be home. Problems are always easier to deal with at home. So we had a GREAT trip with a very crappy ending however we were all safe and for that we are very thankful. It could have been so much worse and we are happy to be able to say that. We are already planning next years trip minus the drunk driver hit and run bit. We will be flying!!!

Wow, what a fun trip. I think this was such a good idea, but it would have been better if it was the Yankees!, Haha. I'm glad you're ok. Next year, fly for sure-go Frontier, right from Provo airport.
